After a bachelor’s degree in history from Lady Shri Ram College, the artist went on to do a Postgraduate diploma in Marketing and Advertising. It was during this time, when she worked in the creative departments of various advertising agencies that she realised where her real passion lay. This led to her joining Triveni Kala Sangam in January 2007 and taking up art as a career.   She works primarily in oils and her work is contemporary in nature. Her paintings seek to explore the relationship between people, architecture and everyday inanimate objects. An attempt is made to underscore the relationship between freedom in everyday life and romantic notions. It starts with one image. The image may be an element of nature, a person, a pattern, a memory or a fragment of a dream. This principle image is then linked to the other elements in the composition with an aim to define the underlying thought process. This is an effort to extrapolate her ideas and the emotions that spring from them. The small tea pots, cups and benches are really meant to focus the viewer’s attention on the possible links between the objects and the human element. The images she chooses are known and familiar like life itself.
