About

L. N. Tallur is one of the most prominent Indian artists. He has showcased his paintings in several solo and group exhibitions. He was born in Bangalore, Karnataka in India and he is one of the artists who have exhibited his work at the Saatchi gallery in London, UK and in New York.

He has sometimes lived in India and has divided his precious time in between India and South Korea.

Education & Work

Tallur was always been interested in arts and crafts. He started his formal training on arts and paintings in the year 1992 to96 and has B.F.A.in Painting from the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts in Mysore University in India. During the years 1997 to 1998, he did his Masters in Fine Arts from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Gujarat. He left India and went to United Kingdom to pursue his M.A in Contemporary Fine art Practice, Leeds Metropolitan University in the years 2001-2002 in UK.     

L N Tallur has participated in several Solo and Group Exhibitions throughout his life. Tallur has actively participated in several group exhibitions. Like in the year1997, he participated in 37th National Exhibition at the Lalit Kala Academi in Chennai, India. In the year 1999, he participated at Asian Art Biennial in Dakha, Bangladesh. He participated in the Art in the world in the year 2000, which was organized by Beaux-Art Magazine in Paris. In the same year 2000, he participated in Millennium Logo, National gallery of Modern art, Mumbai and it was organized by Art India Magazine in Mumbai. In the year 2002, he led to Metropolitan University Gallery, in UK. In the year 2004, he participated in Haste Modern, Nature Mort in New Delhi and also in Busan Binnale in Busan, South Korea. The later was curate by Tae-man Choi and Manu D Park. In 2005, he was one of the members at Borders in Asia, World Socialist Forum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Porte Alegre, and Brazil. In the year 2006 he participated in 9th Bienal de La Habana, Habana, Cuba; Hungry God;Indian Contemporary Art, Arario Beijing in China; Beautiful Cynicism, Arario Beijing in China. His participation at National Gallery of Modern Art Mumbai happened in the year 2007. In the year 2009, he participated in The Armory Show, representing Arario in New York. In the year 2010 he participated in India-China Contemporary Art in West Heavens. In the year 2011 he participated at Asian Art Biennial, National Taiwan Museum of Fine art, in Taiwan. In the year 2012, he exhibited his arts and paintings in Kochi-Muziris biennale, India. In the year 2013, he participated in Busan Sea art Festival in South Korea.

Awards and Accolades

L N Tallur has been honored with several awards and recognitions. In the year 1995, he bagged Karnataka Lalit kala Academy Scholarship, to study at MSU, Baroda. In the year 1996, he got National Scholarship, Ministry of HRD by Government. of India. In the year 1997, he received Inlaks Fine Art Award byInlaks Foundation in Delhi. In the year 1999, he was awarded with Emerging Artist award by Bose Pacia Modern in Soho, New York. He was honored by Commonwealth Scholarship, to study at LMU, Leeds in U.K in the year 2001. In the year 2003 he was awarded with Sanskriti Award by Sanskriti Foundation in Delhi. In the year 2012 he won The SKODA Prize in Delhi for his contribution towards art and paintings
