Artist Overview

Raza\'s early themes were based on the childhood memories of his birth place. In 1950, he was granted a scholarship by govt. of France before which he had many exhibitions of his works in India. He painted landscapes in his early career but later with the inspiration from Indian culture he started painting the \"Bindu\". His paintings had it which he believes is a source of energy and everything revolves around it. Worked mainly in acrylic and oil, his paintings had a heavy usage of colors. In 1981, he was awarded Padma Shree by the President of India and in 1983, he was also elected as a Fellow of the Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi.
