Santosh initially took up a course in fine arts at the Institute of Fine Arts in Trichur in the year 1969. He holds a graduate degree in painting from the esteemed institution,Kalabhavan, Santiniketan. He has also completed a Master’s Degree in (Fine) Sculpturefrom the MaharajaSayajirao University of Baroda.

Towards the beginning of his career, Santoshdynamically tackledgraveglobal issues such as war and terrorism. He represented these works neatly in his masterpieces; these illustrations eventually had a huge impact on the politics and media of that generation.

Besides engaging in the themes of war and global terrorism, T.V. Santhoshconcentrated in lurid greens and shocking orange hues. His painting ‘Tracing an Ancient Error’ has recreated an effect of colour photography in negative/contrasting shades. Similarly, in many other works, he has tried to charge his large canvas with bold figures in precast and granting positions. He was always at par with his politically motivated contemporaries and has time and again been able to boostessentialhistorical episodes. His masterworks have also been able to reflect a shock-bulb of fiercevigour.

Besides painting, Santosh is also a brilliant sculptor. His outstanding installation, the "Houndingdown" was presented in the esteemed Frank Cohen assemblagetitled ‘Passage to India’. Besides this, several other prominent museum shows like the ‘Aftershock’ at Sainsbury Centre, and the Contemporary Art at Norwich in England were held in the year2007. Later on, his works were promoted in the show ’Continuity and Transformatuseum’ in byProvincia di Milano in Italy.

Some of his paintings portraydoom in a very sad manner. They display world at the edge of an infinitesimal end which becomes deliberately apocalyptic. Another work of genius by him is the“Tracing an Ancient Error”which is a highly sun-bleachedexertion of an unshaven man slouching and at the same time revealing his chest; the man holds on to a thread. This is a doppelgänger from where Santosh captures a scene and reinvents its worth as a piece of unidentified and stimulatingantiquity.

He has been a part of several solo and group exhibitions. Some of his recent solo exhibitions are as follows:

  • In 2011he took part in The Land, Nature Morte, Berlin
  • In 2010 he was a part of Burning Flags, Aicon Gallery, London along with collaboration with The Giuld Gallery of Mumbai and New York
  • In the year 2009, he attended the Blood and Spit, Jack Shainman Gallery, New York as well as theLiving with a Wound, Grosvenor Vadehra, London
