What is a fat-over-lean

Fat-over-lean is a traditional oil painting technique. As per this technique, the artist should start by applying a thin and non-oily paint on the canvas and should keep increasing the thickness and oil on the painting gradually. This technique play an important role when an artist is making a painting in a series of layers. The reason behind is that of the time as drying thick and oily paint is a time -consuming process.
